The Rhinoceros of Rwanda

Rhinos are among the Big Five and symbolize strength and resilience. In Rwanda, they are mainly found in Akagera National Park. Komera supports conservation efforts to protect these incredible animals.

🌍 Where They Live

You can find rhinos in Akagera National Park, where the black rhino population was reintroduced after years of absence due to poaching and genocide against Tutsis.

🤓 Fun Rhino Facts

  • Rhinos can run up to 55 km/h (34 mph)!

  • Their horns are made of keratin, the same material as your nails.

  • Rhinos love mud baths—they roll in mud to cool off and protect their skin from insects.

  • They have poor eyesight, but an excellent sense of smell and hearing.

  • A group of rhinos is called a "crash"
